Eco-friendly Living

Housing is becoming more eco-friendly. According to McGraw-Hill Construction, true green homes “contain a specific green building element in at least three of five categories (energy efficiency, indoor air quality, water efficiency, resource efficiency and site management).” For example, a true green home would use Energy-Star appliances to satisfy the energy category or a more efficient washing machine to satisfy the water category. Green homes are expected to boost the home market to $20 million by 2010.

Ad/Promotion Ideas:
• Work with real estate agents to promote properties with “true” green qualities.

• Encourage agents to showcase properties with the potential to be upgraded to greener standards.

• Suggest that agents advertise properties with recent green additions/upgrades (e.g., Energy-Star appliances and more insulation).
