Recession-proof Employment

Talk of a recession brings worries of job availability. Jim Challenger, CEO of Challenger, Gray & Christmas, a job-placement agency, listed the following job fields as recession-proof:
Education–Teachers in grades K-12 will be in high demand due to higher enrollment and retirements.
Health services–Home health aides, physical therapists and medical assistants are some of the most rapidly growing jobs in the health services field.
Security–Unfortunately, crime doesn’t slow with the economy; police officers, international security experts and military personnel will always be needed.
Energy–Eighty percent of the oil industry workforce will reach retirement age in the next 10 years, creating jobs in oil, gas and renewable, alternative and nuclear energy.
International business–Knowledge of other cultures, and their languages, will be key factors in landing a job in this sector.
Environmental sector–Engineers and scientists will be needed to assist companies in the development and implementation of “green” technology.

Ad Campaign/Promotion Ideas
• Now is a good time for recruiters in these fields to advertise the security that would come from working for them.
• Universities and vocational schools would benefit from promoting training and education programs related to the fields listed above.
