In honor of Baby Safety Month, auto dealerships should be promoting their safest family models. New safety technologies are usually one of the top attributes potential buyers consider when purchasing a family car or a car for a young driver. According to Edmunds.com, these technologies can save lives, but high safety standards also create strong brand loyalty. Many of the 2009 IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) Safety winners were compact and sub-compact cars, including the Honda Civic, Ford Fusion, Toyota Prius and Volkswagen Jetta. Encourage dealers to promote all of their family safe cars to responsible parents.

Ad/Promotion Ideas:
• Add special safety promotions and content to the “Auto” section of your classifieds.
• Feature sponsored lists of the top-rated family friendly vehicles and the top safety picks. Include top vehicles for new parents, carpooling parents or parents of teen drivers.
• Create a special section about child safety in vehicles for new parents, including relevant state vehicle laws. List the features to look for in a car for easy car-seat installment and how to install a car seat.
